 Friday night is fright night

Our regular Friday social tennis evening will have an Autumnal theme on Friday 4th November. In addition to the usual tennis, there will be Pumpkin soup and Autumn Fruit Pie. Please come along and join us.

Team Tennis and Singles League

There has been a good response to both our internal winter competitions and John Hall has worked hard putting together the teams for team tennis. The five Team Tennis captains are busy organising their first matches, most of which start next weekend, and more importantly, choosing the name!

The closing date for singles has been extended to 2nd November, so you should soon receive an email with details of your league. These will also be posted up in the clubhouse, together with the rules.

 Free taster sessions

Our Men’s Captain Luke Barker has set up his own coaching company LMB Tennis. In addition to running sessions at local schools, including East Barnet school, LMB Tennis is linking in to our club and as part of this will be offering some free taster sessions for members, starting next week. EARLY RISERS will run on Tuesday and Thursday, (7.30-8.30am), and TENNIS FITNESS Class on Wednesday, (7-8pm). Please see Luke’s email for more details.

Quiz Night

Martin Dawson hosted another challenging (and fun!) quiz night. Many thanks to all those who donated raffle prizes which meant that £115 was donated to The Alzheimer’s Society.

Tennis successes

Our One Day Mixed Tournament took place on 8th October. Twelve pairs battled it out. Congratulations to Nicky and Kyle Fenn for topping the A’s and Robin Tank Goldman and Sarah Kuti for winning the B’s.

Autumn Finals day was the following weekend, with 13 finals taking place. Results can be viewed on our website A special mention to Nicky Fenn who completed a season’s double, winning the Ladies Singles title in both the Summer and Autumn Championships.

Away from our own finals, Chairman John Kamenou and Men’s Captain Luke Barker beat stiff competition to win Staton’s Hadley Wood Open Doubles Tournament too. Congratulations to all our winners!

Left behind

Once again we have amassed an array of clothing that has been left behind at the club. This is on display in the clubhouse and will be there for the next 3 weeks, after which time it will be given to a charity shop. Please pop in and see if you recognise any of the items.
