Could you fill one of the key roles for the club? We rely on many people voluntarily to give their time to help make the club run. For a few roles we need a little more and some key roles fall vacant at our AGM in October, or are already without a post holder.

We have long term vacancies that we should fill:

Social Secretary whose job it is to develop and run our social activity programme.

Allied to this role is that of Social Tennis Secretary, who we need to develop our social tennis programme.

Club Maintenance Secretary, who job is to make sure the clubhouse, outbuildings and contents are properly maintained and that we comply with the various regulations for electrical and water installations and fire precautions. This role was split from grounds and court maintenance which is currently ably run by Steve Bird.

We will have to choose a new Men's Captain to replace Luke Barker and we already have two well qualified applicants, Aran Mustapha and John Kamenou.

We have to find a new Treasurer to replace George Panayi for four years.

And it is time to find a new Chairman.

I am approaching the end of my third year and increasing care commitments are reducing the time I have available for this role. The Chairman and committee are well supported by a number of keen volunteers who take on regular to short term roles; no-one has to do everything.

Please think about these vacancies and consider if it is your turn to take on one of the roles. The busier roles are well suited to someone who is looking for a purposeful way to fill some spare time, and remember none of these roles are for life and all are rewarding.

The committee currently meets just 6 times a year and not all roles have to be filled by someone who is a committee member.

Contact me or any of the committee members if you are interested but want to find out more before making a commitment and please make a note in your diary of the date of our AGM - 26 October.
